The Apple of Our Village: Dimi Weaving
Dimi weaving is an art form brought to life by the passionate women in our village. This weaving technique, meticulously crafted by the women of Karacakilavuz village, holds significant cultural value for our community. It originated in 1885 when our grandmothers and grandfathers brought motifs and loom from Bulgaria. Today, we carry the responsibility of preserving their legacy. The rugs, carpets, and pillows in our homes are all a testament to the handiwork of Dimi weaving, and we strive to keep this culture alive.
Dimi weaving is not just a regional motif product but a heritage we have safeguarded and evolved with the imagination and efforts of our women since the founding of our village. We bear the responsibility of passing down this art form from our ancestors to future generations.
As the women of Karacakilavuz village, our goal goes beyond supporting the power of women; we aim to reach countless women by increasing our loom count. Dimi weaving is not only a handicraft but also a platform where women can showcase their skills and empower themselves. Therefore, our focus lies not only in the value of our woven products but also in empowering our women and playing a significant role in our society.
